Live Webcasting, like any other service has a cost – but we can show you how to not just recover your costs, but to make additional revenue for your organization. Here is a short list of some of the methods used to generate additional revenue from a webcast…
1. Charge for Online Access to the Live Stream
Charging for access to the event that you’re live streaming is simple and effective. Register your viewers in advance by getting them to purchase ‘tickets’ online and providing them with a login password that allows them to access the webcast.
This can be combined with other options for larger total revenues…
2. Live Pay-Per-View Access (click here)
Charging last-minute viewers a simple pay-per-view fee for accessing your live stream is another simple, straightforward method for bringing in some revenue. Set a price for accessing your live stream and collect payments from viewers on the spot, just before or even during the broadcast, which then takes them automatically to the video player screen. No password or login is necessary as the online payment acts as the access point directly.
3. Insert Commercial Advertising
The traditional way to make money off live broadcasts is by inserting advertisements into the stream. This can be done either as streamed video ads before/during/after the webcast or even as advertising space alongside the player. Our Custom Package allows for this feature at no additional cost.
4. Sponsorship from Other Businesses
Finding businesses who are willing to sponsor your event or broadcast can be a great way to amass funding, especially if your live stream targets a certain location, industry, or niche. You can display their logo or print ad on the display screen of your webcast, or even run their video commercials during breaks in the event.
5. Sell the Recordings as VOD (Video-on-Demand)
One simple way to generate revenue is to sell the recording of your event, conference, or other broadcast after the fact. This can generate significant income, as long as there are enough people who either missed the broadcast or want to own the content.
6. Re-Broadcast the Sessions ‘Live’
When you’ve put a great deal of time, energy, and resources into a single live event, it can be a let down when the original broadcast doesn’t meet all your goals. One way to leverage your existing content is to re-broadcast it not on-demand but actually live, as if the event were happening live once again. This can be a good method to generate buzz and drive more sales without having to put on a whole other event.
7. Offer Discounts and Promotions
As usual in sales, coupons and discounts can drive more sales than would otherwise take place.
8. Offer Group Discounts to Organizations
Offer group discounts to those who purchase institutional or group subscriptions, video rentals or purchases, or pay-per-view streaming to your video content. Depending on what your audience is, you may be able to reach large institutions (schools, churches, non-profit, etc.).
While many of these techniques require setting up a web platform that can perform these functions, the returns on investment are substantial, especially when an organization has multiple or ongoing events to absorb the initial cost of development.
